Welcome to Brighton - the place to be this summer
Brighton and Hove, to give Brighton its full name is a city as vibrant and full of culture as can be found anywhere in Europe.
Ideally located on England’s south coast it is just a short train journey from London and is often described as “London by the sea”.
With a lively social scene, its diverse culture and the fact that Brighton has one of the most cosmopolitan populations throughout Europe and combined with our popular seafront it is a must for foreign language students, and tourists alike.
It is guaranteed that no matter what time of year, something fun and interesting will be happening in Brighton! And if it is happening in Brighton it is definitely worth going! Please visit our Social Programme page for an example programme.
Brighton & Hove - “London by the Sea”
Brighton and Hove is one of the most vibrant and multicultural cities in England. It is also a popular student town with many attractions and a buzzing night life that attracts many people from London and beyond.
Brighton is rich with many cultural and historical attractions, notably the Royal Pavilion, Brighton’s Palace Pier, the Laines shopping district and the new Brighton Wheel. Moreover, Brighton is surrounded by typical English villages and towns, such as Lewes, and the stunning south downs which are now a National Park and are easily accessible from Brighton by bus.
Brighton has a huge music scene with many bands and artists living in and around Brighton....if you’re lucky, you might spot Sir Paul McCartney or Fat Boy Slim walking along the beach. Brighton, or to be more accurate, Shoreham, is the original Hollywood as the birthplace of modern film and cinema technology. We also host Europe’s largest Pride Parade every year as well as numerous comedy and music festivals.. If you find you want more we can arrange theatre trips to London’s world famous West End!
Brighton is one of the most lively cities on the south coast with a buzzing music scene and a reputation for the best nightlife in the South outside of London, with many Top Artists and DJs performing in Brighton (What’s On Brighton). Every year Brighton also plays host to a number of events such as The Brighton Festival (music & Arts) and The Fringe Festival as well as frequent music and film events on the beach.
Outside of the music scene, Brighton hosts many other events including Paddle Round the Pier, Pride Parade and The White Night Festival.
Brighton has a wide ranging choice of sporting activities to choose from ranging water sports and beach volleyball to the more main stream sports and there are numerous facilities including swimming pools and sport centres. Dotted around Brighton are many Tennis courts, Parks to play football, and even basketball and volleyball courts on the beach. If that is not enough, Brighton is also the home of Brighton and Hove Albion Football club and their new Amex Stadium, as well as Sussex county cricket club. And if that still isn’t enough to satisfy your sporting needs, we are also able to organise trips to London to watch football matches at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium and more including Wembley and Stamford Bridge.
